“The Claim Inquiry Resolution (CIR) tool within the Electronic Refund Management (eRM) portal accessed via Availity® Essentials only accepts inquiry submissions related to High-Dollar, Pre-Pay Review requests for most Host (BlueCard® out-of-area) claims (Medical Records and/or Itemized Bills). The other inquiry options that were available via CIR have transitioned to the Availity Claim Status Tool’s Dispute Claim or Message This Payer features.” Per BCBS Provider Education.

ICD-10 Adds Z Codes
Starting April 1, 2022
You will have new ICD-10-CM Z codes to report if you find the patient you are treating is partially vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19.
- New subcategory Z28.31 (Underimmunization for COVID-19 status), and under it, two new patient status codes:
- Z28.310 (Unvaccinated for COVID-19).
- Z28.311 (Partially vaccinated for COVID-19).
- Z29.39 (Other underimmunization status).

Thirty-nine codes were deleted from the 2022 ICD-10 code set effective October 1, 2021.
Three of these 39 codes are billed by PCPs quite frequently:
M54.5 (low back pain)
R05 (cough)
R63.3 (feeding difficulties)
POET has been told, “Cigna Medicare is denying the whole claim as “inappropriate diagnosis code” when billed with one of these deleted codes. “
